Bluegill or Goldfish Feeders

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Okay, so recently my bass has just been chasing around the 3-4 feeder baby bluegills as well as feeder goldfish and not eating them. All he does is just corner the feeders and puts them in his mouth for a bit if at all and spits them out. Then, after much toil and antagonizing, he basically scares them to death and i have to clean them out from the bottom before they decay. When should i expect him to consistently eat them and wasting the food I give him?

Whichever, you decide always help to quarantine them first. I just to feed mine smelt and use sunnies as treats only

Bluegill 100% its a natural diet for a lmb while goldfish offer little to no nutritional value. And a re also very prone to disease. Have you thought about setting up a breeder tank for something like convicts or mollies? Even shrimp would work.

I just dump a crapload of small crayfish in my tank and let them hunt them whenever they want.

i have a 180 gal tank 2 bass between 9-10 in and a 6in bass black crappie 3 blue gills 2 pumpkinseeds and they became tank mate just got rid of all fish but 2 biggest bass and i have two fx5 on tank but stave for aday or two they'll eat anything you put in tank if you want them to eat it dont keep it in the tank to long wit the bass

Bluegill cannot be used as a primary staple for a Largemouth Bass. Try feeding a mixture of Bluegill, Crawfish, Worms, Crickets, Wax Worms, ect.. Once your Bass is acclimated to tank life start throwing in flake and pellet food. Buying food all the time will cost you a fortune, considering in takes about 10lbs of forage for a Largemouth Bass to gain 1lb in the wild.
