You mean like the inuits who do it for "cultural purposes" or the Froes Islander primitives who waste much of the meat since it's foul with mercury. Don't give two ****s about the whalers, their lively hood or their problems. Pretty sure they couldn't care less about my view point either.

While I think the SS are more publicity then actually substance I'm not sure that is such a bad thing. The general public is now informed that Japan is publicly flouting the IWC rules and it raises awareness of whaling in general.

actually watch the first video closer. i hate those sea shepard guys but im on thier side here. u can see there engines churning but they are not moving at all. they are indeed stationary. u can also see that the whaler boat turned. im on those shepard idiots on this one

i took another look at both the videos and your right, the japanese boat did turn into the ady gil, but in both videos it seems like the ady gil accelerated forward a few seconds before the impact, thats just my opinion

yes they are, there trying to see how many whales a average fishing vessel can kill each day.

It doesn't matter to me weather or not they slowed down or tried to go backwards they shouldn't have been that close in the first place. Also they are basically pirates but b/c thre "cause" they get away with it. I'm suprised they stil have a flag to sail under after the last season of the show.

these guys are fisherman... not gangsters.... anyone seen the doc. "the Cove" its about dolphin hunting.... very interesting.... though lop sided in view point it shows that many of these Japanese fisherman are not exactly violent.... well towards humans that is....

Yeah but dopers dont get run over by the Coast Guard because it is not their job to run boats over.I have heard of Chinese fishing ships all the way over on the coast of west Africa running over small dingys because they could not get out of the way fast enough.They overfished their own waters so they steal food from others without consequence.I wonder if there are any whales left in the waters around the island of Japan.
