Hey guys,
I was just browsing some websites and came across a picture of a Bobtail Squid. I instantly wanted to aquire one for my home aquarium but before I do so I was wondering if any of you have ever kept one, or seen one in your LFS. Also if you have any information on them please let me know.

Here is a pictures

they look pretty cool Brenden, I really like squids, but honestly I think a cuddle fish would be even cooler. I don't think many people on here have squids but you never know!

i think they are more available in better condition over here in the EU as we have native cuttlefish, where as US doesnt, and they dont travel that well. but i think they transport eggs over and hatch them and start up CB programmes so maybe they are more available. i imagine if you want them enough you will be able to find them. they are a lot of care though

Davo, thanks for all the information. Do you know how large a small specied cuttlefish would grow? Also if you have any links that talk specifically about the care of these fish please post them. I am going to speak with my LFS this weekend and see what they say.

Sepia bandensis is a dwarf species which someone wrote an article on here http://www.tonmo.com/cephcare/cuttlefish.php
a lot of care sheets are on the first link i gave, but i believe the site has a dedicated forum to these creatures that might be worth checking out. remember a lot of work considering the lifespans are anywhere between a few months and 3 years.
