So i read that boiling driftwood will remove the tanins faster then just soaking them in water. Anyone have any imput on this method?

Have you tried boiling it? Ive always just put it in my tank but i set up a new 15 gal and im gonna try to reduce the tanins as fast as i can.

From what i read they say the wood in boiling water is like a tea bag in hot water. Its suposed to pull the tanins out?

Im gonna have to try it. I have 2 peices and ill try boiling 1 and putting the other in the oven. Ill make sure to let everyone know the results.

Recently added 2 large pieces. I poured hot/boiling water over them in a large plastic container and let them sit, changed the water every other day for right at 2 weeks. Every couple of water changes I would pull them out and scrub them down and spray them off. It worked out pretty well for me (no yellow tank). I'm sure that I rushed it a bit but as long as the water you are draining out is clear I'd say you're good to go.

I would def, recomend boilling if you have a large enough pot/small enough piece.
