In moody gardens in galveston they have about 2 or 3 on display in the rainforest pyramid and they are asian aros

from what i know. only places that are allowed for asian aro's are zoo's and other public aquarium/pet places with permit and stuff. and i believe someone said if they are bred in the u.s then its legal but i dunno.

that one guy with the 50,000 gallon fish tank on this site has a asian aro aswell. and he said something like its chipped and hes able to have it legally. he has vid on youtube and such. such bs we cant have them in the states but ok for other countries to have them.

The US F&G doesn't want the demand for Asian arrowanas to get so high that they go extinct...

Yeah the add does seem a little fishy. But I don't know, one of my LFS does get asian aros in every once in a while(mostly yellows and occasional reds). They don't put them on display and ask only the regular customers they can trust. They know I'm not interested but since I go they're a lot they show them to me. I don't know how people get them but they are coming into the US.

That is the only thing i never understood, since in asia we have so many aro farms, why cant they be legally imported to the US?

Although i guess then the black market demand goes up as well...

Before the Lacey Act, we bought 9-12 inch asian aros for $30-$60 each retail. The black market is what's skyrocketing the price. Once legalized in the US again, the prices will plummet once the initial "gotta-be-first" sales are completed.
