I ordered this guy last April at a little over 7 inches and now he's closing in on about 10. He's not shy in the slightest, doesn't mind when the light is on and doesn't hassle any of his tank mates other than occasionallyIMG_0442.JPG chasing around a couple of spotted pims I've had forever. Like most cats he's not a picky eater at all and thrives on Massivore pellets, NLS pellets and freeze-dried krill. He's gotten progressively darker (mostly a drab olive green /grey) but lately I noticed he's growing a nice streamer and his whiskers are about the length of his body. I definitely recommend one of these guys for hobbyists who love pims don't have a monster tank.

Sounds about right with respect to my pair. Boisterous, quirky. Yea, gorgeous barbels. Got them last Aug from Teds Fishroom at ~4" TL. They are about 6" now. Slo-o-ow. Pics are old. Need to get me a Gopro to shoot them now in a 4500 gal. Could not be kept together in a 240 gal. Have been ok in 4500 gal. They look a bit different:

Awesome cats. They were my next choice after the shovelnose. Maybe after I get the indoor pond built this year I can get one of these for the 180.

The first one looks like a bolt with sweet colors but to me the second one looks like a crazy cool looking giraffe/bolt cat hybrid.

Yeah, long term 180 at least because with their long barbels I imagine they get stressed in anything less than 2 ft wide.

Mine for the moment is in a 125 so he might be darker because he's stressed. Also there's apparently at least one subspecies according to Planet Catfish so that might account for the variations.

Beautiful looking catfish
