Nice pr. are you going to keep some of the het. babies? do you want breed the young to each other?

haha het. stands for heterozygous. the dominant is normal jag and recessice is xanthic.

JJ=normal jag... heterozygous= Jj= normal jag phenotype(physical appearence,color, with xanthic blood)
jj= recessive trait,xanthic.

so hope ur female jag is a heterozygous= Jj... so u can have some xanthic babies becuz if she is JJ u will have no xanthic babies. ur offspring will be Jj which is still dominant for normal jag colors. u will need to breed the babies with another xanthic jag if u want more xanthic jags.

i feel so special guys. i just learned that in biology class last semester. man o man all that smash i talk about "never gonna use this stuff in real life", well i actually used it

hah i still wonder if ur female is a heterozygous jag? how old are those babies.

1st batch hatches 5/4/07

if she is not a HETEWHATEVERGOUS what would that mean?

If she isnt it would mean that all the fry would look like regular Jags and would have to be bred back to the xanthic parent (or any xanthic) to produce xanthic fry. if she is, chances are that some of the fry will in fact be xanthic. If you use the Punnett square and place the Geno/Phenotype for the parents you get an idea of what the fry will turn out to be..
