Bonsai Faders

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The hatchling fry are about a week old. They are free swimming but the mother keeps them in the corner. Some of them are daredevils and are swimming around the tank and the father has to go fetch lol..

All I'm doing to this spawn is to help feed them. Otherwise I'm not touching anything!!
Good lol. I tend to find that raising cichlid fry works better when the parents take care of em. Just remember to try to remove them within a few weeks of now tho as the parents may turn on them after awhile to make room for a new batch.

First off... that's a super gorgious fader you have there.. second congrats seems like they are both really good parents.. that happens almost never at first lol
Agreed. Usually first time parents won't even get the eggs fertilized the first couple of times, let along be able to care for and raise young as well as yours are. It took my original pair about 4 times just to get it all right. My angel fish never got it right even after spawning 7 times. You got a good pair there

I was going to split them up and match him with my RT in hopes of making a fading shortbody RT.. but seeing as how good they are maybe I shouldn't touch them and leave them together?

What would you do?

Thank you very much, I knew when I seen him that he'd be with me a very long time.

I didn't realize how lucky I'd be. The mother almost didn't make it home from the drive. The LFS was about 2 hours away.

I had her with 2 other males before I decided to pair her with Orangey. Instantly she went into spawning mode.. Ever since they have been a match made in heaven.

Personally I'd leave them together. It's hard to get parents as good as they are. Most take awhile to get as good as these 2 are already. Honestly you couldn't have asked for a better pair.

You'll likely end up with a heck of a mix. Whatever is upstream in the lines may show. I got quite a few regular body fh out of my batches from bonsai parents. There was also a lot of different looks between them. Congratz on the pair!

The fries are getting bigger. Kind of concerned that the male put a hurt on the female so I reluctantly had to separate them.

There are a few monster fry and a few mini fry. I'd say about 50 have made it to this point.
