Now, plans for a monster tank (Or monster tanks) have flown over my head like a flock of birds.
Likewise, I'd like my first tank to have it's stocking primarily from the Super Order Osteoglossomorpha.
That said, I've got my bases on the Osteoglossoidei, Notopteroidei, and Heterodontidei, suborders.
Arapaima Gigas is out of the question as I'm considering an aquarium and not a bonytongue pond.
Fish from the order Hiodontiformes are out of the question as well due to the need of colder temps and may only work if I ever tried with Koi/small Sturgeon, aside from the fact that I don't know where I can find a supplier and whether he could sell me live fingerlings or smoked fillets

Here is where I have a problem at: the suborder Mormyroidei, the Mormyrids. The only species I really have any knowledge of are the ones represented in Gina Sandford's "An Illustrated Encyclopedia of Aquarium Fish". Sadly, all but one reach a size range of 4-10 inches and have very small mouths and the only one that may work only reaches around 17 inches and is an elephantnose. Which means a small mouth again, though bigger due to it's larger size, but unsure if it could/would take fish as food. The species represented are (Common names and size statistics were taken from the said book authored by Gina Sandford):
Gnathonemus Petersii- Peter's Elephantnose (9 inches)
Gnathonemus Schilthuisae- Schilthuis' Elephantnose (4 inches)
Gnathonemus Tamandua (17 inches)
Marcusenius Brachyistius (7 inches)
Marcusenius Longianalis- Slender Elephantnose (6 inches)
Marcusenius Macrolepidotus- Large-Scaled Elephantnose (10 inches)
Petrocephalus Bovei- (4 1/2 inches)
My question: Can anyone tell me of a well sized Mormyrid (IE a foot and above) that has a mouth big enough to eat sinking pellets/feeder fish? I know some may suggest going for an Aba Aba, but I don't want to try due to reports of it being one of THE most aggressive knives. So if anyone could direct me to a mormyrid with those characteristics I pointed out, it would be highly appreciated.
