Hi folks,
As the title suggests I find myself bored silly with my tank. I'm not sure if I'm bored with my tank set up or with fish keeping in general.
I have kept most fish over the last 3 years since I began this hobby and have run out of ideas. I've moved up in tank size like most of us, starting with 10 gallon, 30 gallon, 90 gallon up to my current 220 gallon diy ply tank.
I've kept salt and freshwater, terrapins, crayfish, cichlids the works.
Anyone gone through anything similar?
If so what direction did you go?
Cheers

Maybe grow something out or get a "wet pet". I got myself a lungfish a few months ago and it really spiked my interest in the hobby even more, he now swims to the too of the tank and waits for me when it's feeding time.

ive been thru that a few times. i usually change up my decor or even set up a smaller tank with breeding fish. last result if you dont have rare or expensive fish is to sell them and get new stock. only drawback with selling fish is nobodys really buying too much at the moment

Not even close. Form me, keeping a fish for life is where the real joy is. The species that I'm focusing on won't even be fully grown in three years. This hobby has a LOT to offer for me still.

Its arrowana time if you ask me :D fill your 220 nicely quality fish you won't get bored

I have kept fish for approximately 40 years. My solution is to keep different types of tanks. Create biotape tanks, cichlid, monster, South American ,Tetra, cold water, Discus. If you end up not liking the choices , rehome them for free to someone. Get to know breeders and join the local clubs to get new rare items and fish to work with. It is not a cheap hobby but it also does not have to break the bank.

Thanks for the replies,
Arrowana is a great idea though ive kept the bigger cichlids before and was frustrated by the limited tank mate Options so its maybe not for me.
Im thinking maybe 3-400 tiny community fish are the way to go, barbs, neons etc...
That plus a decor change should hopefully kick start my interest once again.
The more I think about it, this boredom began after my ply build was finished.
I think once you start building diy tank projects, you miss the process when it's finished and the normal tank maintenance ain't enough anymore, so the regular decor change is perhaps the way to go.
I love the diy and have Just finished converting an old wooden tv into a fish tank, I couldn't resist after picking up 4 old tvs on Ireland's version of Craigslist for £5. But u have to draw the line on the number of tanks sometime, so decor change it going to have to do. :)

Vanman u are definetly on to something there, however as I have the 6ft by 3ft, 220 gallon in my living room I kinda have to draw the line with regards to multiply tanks as my wife and kids have to live here too..:).

Edit:Just awake and the penny finally dropped on what ur saying there vanman, I like that concept. I've always kind of mixed and matched fish from different areas, but sticking to one biotope at a time sounds interesting.
Thanks
