piranhas are amazing fish but you have to love them for what they are. when they are comfortable they swim. mine swim all the time. but they arent the crazy killers liek you see on TV. the bigger numbers of piranhas that you have they greater the aggression

if they are not very active turn the heat up.. 80-83 they like it warm.. i have a powerhead in my tank and they did the same thing.. move the powerhead to half way up the tank. try to feed them floating pellets to get them to come up to the top more often and put the tank some place that isnt busy.. they are skittish and will hide when someone is to close to the tank, and it will be minutes before they start to move around again.

They like clumps of plants also but even so they are not very active fish unless they are feeding, I like that. Powere heads help get them moving.

I just got mine, had them for a week or 2, and they seem to be more active... anyways just give them some time and you may like them. It's just going into new things, give it time.

I have 4 red bellies which dont stay still,they love swimming through bubbles mate! get the biggest air stone you can they arnt much and a bubble wall,they will swim through them all day ,mine hover over the air stone and float in the bubbles they love it!
