Started? I'd say about 2.5 - 3 inches. She didn't hold all the way until 4 inches. When I say 4 inches, I'm talking about taking the measuring tape and knowing for sure she is a full 4 inches. The male I picked up as an adult. He was about 5-6 inches when I got him. The females I raised from fry. With the 3 fry I kept from my adults, I think I have 2 males and 1 female.

Thanks for info..very pretty fish.. mine is holding now but i quess may not make it full term..we will see..have some new pics..love to see them.

Here is a combo pic of one female holding and the male a day or 2 after breeding.

FYI. My male didn't have the bright red and blue face every day of the week. It was only when he wanted to breed, fighting for food or for protecting his area. In other words, when he was relaxed his colors faded. When I needed to do a water change his colors didn't look the best either.

The pics are crappy because of water spots after a water change.
