Pygmy cories maybe? Corydoras pygmaeus is the scientific name.

I have 3 in a 20H though small these lil' guys need quite abit of room and cories are schooling fish. personally I'de go with some Cherry shrimp. They are small bright red shrimp that do a decent job as scavenger/bottom feeder. I kept mine w/ some Ottos in a 5 gallon until i upgraded my 20H to a planted tank and re-located the shrimp. I will warn you once they are happy they will start breeding like mice. But make nice inhabitents to just about any tank. and petstores will usually buy them as they are fairly popular. You can also try some Ghost shrimp which are often used as feeders, they get larger and are abit more aggressive compared to the Cherry shrimp and I would not mix the 2. Clown plecos are also a nice lil' pleco, or a Borneo sucker. But personally i think an otto or 2 and some cherry shrimp would be your best bet.

Pygmy chain loach or Botia sidthimunki are nice and stay around the 6cm mark .

Oh yeah I forgot that the pygmy cories were schoolers. Definitely not a good idea for a 5 gal. I agree on the cherries 100%. They're great little shrimp.

what about bumblebee gobies- I always found them pleasing to have

you can get away with dozens of them in a 5g
