bottom dweller that controls snails for a 10g?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I dont suppose you taking them out is an option(?), while making sure there is little to no wasted food in the tank.

I have been wanting to get a bottom dweller in the tank for a while, just havent been able to decide what to add. With the appearance of these baby snails now I was hoping that I could get a fish that would do double duty.

Also, I dont think I am feeding excessively by any means.

Would a Dojo or yoyo loach be ok with the shrimp?

No, they will still eat the shrimp. Snail populations are directly linked to the excess amounts of food in the tank. This can be from 1 excess food, or two algae.

Just about any fish that is capable of eating snails would also be able to eat the shrimp! But if you did take out the shrimp clown loaches would be a good choice imo. Yes the get large but it takes them a long time and if you just absolutly had to get rid of them b/c they are too big you shouldnt have any problems selling and you may even make a little $$ on it!

Use manual picking up method or control feeding rations as WyldFya suggested. 10 gallons is just too small to accommodate any loaches unless you can pick Botia sidthimunki, and regardless of whether they were 4 inches or not, they are still not suitable for a 10 gallons on long-term basis.

Ditto!! A 10 gallon is not even sufficient for Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki!

What about a kuhli loach? I don't know how they are w/ shrimp but they can live their whole lives in a 10 gallon tank and eat snails up.

IMO a 30 gallon aquarium would be more appropriate for keeping kuhlis.
