do pleco do well in a sandy bottom????? or any other bottom dwellers?

if so, wat BDs do well in sandy bottom???

Yup.. plecos should be fine with either sand or fine gravel, a couple of my tanks actually have a 'river mix' of both.

Loaches seem to like sand as well, some species will even dig into it to search for food or hide.

cool thanks. just curiousity, is there any fish that should not be placed in sand???

Can't think of any. Eels like it, plecos like it, bigger cats, stingrays, loaches, lungfish do fine... list goes on.

ya i was lookin into that too. i guess sand is the choice. is there such thing, black sand??

i heard is not

is there such thing, black sand

You can try this stuff, I have seen it used as tank substrate before. You can get it in black. It's not available here in NZ so I haven't seen it in person :(

It's used for mixing with epoxy and coating swimming pools, but it's just coloured quartz (sand)

We do have black volcanic sand on the local beaches that I've used in a coldwater marine tank before though.
