You could try trumpet snails, they might help clean up the poo or left over food as well as keep your sand aerated

Excess food and poop will never be resolved by additional bioload as there are no true poop eaters in the trade. Try adding more flow or configuring the tank to direct more of the flow directed towards the filter inlet. Avoid those decor that promote staganat areas with no circulation. Also feed what your fish can eat in a minute or two to avoid excess food settling around the tank.
