Bought a catfish at LFS.

Seems like a Jaú (that's how we named this fish in Brazil) and man, this fish get's HUGE !!!!!!
 
Wow u got yourself a real monster there good look im a big fan of large cats but have not got the room for them.
 
Thanks everyone for all the information. I still have him. He is very healthy and growing. He is around 12-14" now. As long as I keep feeders in the tank he leaves my pacu and arowana alone.

Same here. It's been over 2 years and mine is still under 1.5'.

Grow it out huge!!!!! I was only able to attain 18" mark with mine in the past. Circumstances will not allow me to have large catfish any longer, at least for the foreseeable future. Mine grew slower than RTC, but IMO more steadily. Also one of my least active catfish until feeding time!!!! Boy was it impressive to watch these guys eat! Also impressive to see one bite a channel catfish as large as himself in half!!!!
 
I have one around 14" & eats outta my hand all day long let u pet him.. mine is not at all aggressive toward my other 3 fish in the tank with him he just hides under his driftwood and only comes out to eat when i feed him or when he swimms lap during the night... he is housed with a 14" firewoood a 12" goonch 15" marble with no aggression visble toward any other tank mates
 
Interesting collection. What's the tank size and dimensions?
