went into the pets store today. saw a new shipments of silver arowana. asked the owner where they were imported from. he told me that they were imported from a south american farm. he also said that most of the silver arowanas found in pet stores are bred in farms from asia and how when they get them, they sell those for less because they cost less to obtain. he assumes that the ones from south america are more healthy since the breeders can go out into the wild and collect new specimens to increase the gene pool while the breeders in asia cannot do that. the breeders in south america also diverge a section of the river to use and this stimulates their natural environment. the poor gene pool theory could be a reason as to why some silver arows get de and others don't. but then again, how many silver arows are from south america farms verus asian farms?? what does everyone else think...?
