Bought a new Tessalata Eel

Yea, that xray was from the 3 stooges done with a light bulb behind the eel. Isnt it true that the infection from the eel bite is as bad as the bite itself?

I have a large one and have had it well over a year. It is kept with 4 other large eels all nearly 3ft long. This one is by far the most active. Not so much agressive but active. I see no evedence of failed escapes but they are not to be trusted.
Feeding by hand is foolhardy they are agressive feeders. I run double protein skimmers but any animals of this size present water quality problems. I reccomend lots of rock, enough that the eels can't be found when they want to hide.
Good luck be careful and have fun.

well no i mean if they'd ever taken an X-ray before you'd think they'd notice and extra set of jaws right?

i kept a big tessi , although it was killed by my green in a fight , i now have one 2 ft long , and hand feed it and hand feed my green moray ( 5ft ) . i do hand feed mine and they will come up to the top when they see me and i will pet them. they are always happy to see me , but when i am with my girlfriend they do try to attack her through the glass. These are amazing creatures and can really bond to you , if given the chance. Be cautious though , they can do alot of damage. if you ever need any info on morays ive kept over 15 different species , shoot me a pm
