bought a Python No Spill Clean And Fill- 50'

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I gravel vac with a small hand pumped siphon, then i let gravity do the hard work with a big hose.
for the new water I fill three large ceramic pots, which are out side my house, (plastic bins would do) the day before a water change and add White Crain anit clori. I put the aged, treated water in the tank with a spare pump and the hose I empty with.
50% water change on a 205 gal tank, cleaned glass inside gravel vaced, done and dusted in 1/2 an hour.

Fifteen years ago, I'd have agreed with you classic-chassis, but then I could, and regularly would, pick up three hundred pounds, put it on my shoulder and walk off. 5 hernia surgeries later though, not so much. They don't call me "Ox" or "Magilla" any more. Pythons rock.

I just got one from petsmart yesterday that had the wrong price on it 50' for 43.99 normally 69.99 at petsmart. So anyways what I am getting at is that this is my second one only because i gave my first on away 9 years ago after having it for 5 years. My friend that i gave it too still has it and uses it today.

That's a fair comment!

a few months back I bought a 125g and the guy gave me his python but I haven't used it . It seems to have a lot of hose segments and attachments and I have not gotten around to leak testing it before I commit it to a water change. I just started using a garden hose to drain and fill. I suppose I should get that thing out and give it a try.

i had the python

the refill is crap so just use the garden hose to fill now

the way you start the syphon is crap on the python you need to turn the tap on run back to the tank then turn the tap off hoping the hose hasn't fell out of the tank

the gravel cleaner is crap

basically the only good part about the python is the hose and shut off valve at the gravel cleaner end

i put the gravel cleaner in the trash just run the hose out side to the garden

brought the pump style gravel cleaner

my water changes are easy run the hose out to the garden connect the python hose to the good gravel cleaner move it up and down a few times in the tank the flow starts

put the garden hose in the tank dose the tank with prime turn the garden hose on sit back and refill job done

water change of 100 gal with a gravel clean finished in 45 Min's :D

Whenever I do it, I always leave the water running while I gravel vac, seems I don't have as good of suction if I shut off the water.

if you place the python in your tank and close it down on it with a lid (glass cover) it will hold nicely. also if you turn the little switch that will stop/start your flow till u make it back to your tank. as for prime you can add to the water as you refill with no ill effect. the warmer the water is the more oxygen bubbles you will have in your tank until they dissapate normally in a hr or 2.

not for me sorry i find it rubbish

i just use the hose that came with the python with the shut off valve at the gravel cleaner end

i have no need for the rest

i water my garden with the waste water from my tank it better than letting it go to waste down the drain

its just sooooo much easyer with the gravel cleaner you move up and down to get started
