about a month ago i bought a used 300 for $300.i knew the bottom was cracked and figured i could throw a patch over it.i read a few threads on here.stripped all the silicon out, acitoned everything.should be getting to seal it tomorrow.ive been working on an over flow.ive got a couple of small totes for pillow stuffing and whatever else i put in there.ive got a mag 1400 pump(i think).and im useing my old water holding tank (which is a 44 gal garbage can).a buddy is giving me 6 adult pirahnas to put in it.thinking i would rather put natives in it though.i am planning on getting plants, sand, and drift roots and wood from my dads lake ether way.ive been meaning to post what ive been doing along with pics.just havent had time.

Man I hate to be a downer but there is no damn way in hell that I would patch a 300 and trust it. It's a perfect example of absolutely begging for trouble. I think your only option is to replace that bottom pane. 300 gallons of water is just too much weight on a patched tank, ESPECIALLY the bottom.

I'd have to agree.I've done it with smaller tanks but in your case it's just not worth the risk.

Sorry gonna have to agree with everyone else on this one. Thats like 2000lbs of water sitting on top of patched up piece of glass. Imagine what 300 gallons of water will look like on the floor.

It's a scary thought. I got a free 75 and the guy that had it cracked it along the back near the top. He patched it with a mirror:screwy: from the inside and outside. I wasn't gonna say no to free tanks, but Its set up in my basement, 3/4 full and it still scares me a little every time i think about it. I usually use it for quarintine, and I'm pretty sure the fish are confused when they first check themselves out in it.:grinno:
