I had a thought... May be stupid.. What about cutting the bottom out and building a Plywood bottom for it. One that is epoxied and sealed and then Siliconed? YOU could have 2x6's running every 7-12" right underneither it... I've never built a plywood tank so it's just a suggestion.

Another thought that I had reading the the thread was taking 2 pieces of plexiglass and completely gluing one to the bottom of the out and one completely glue and siliconed to the inside? Sandwiching the glass. Of course after making sure that it was properly reseated if need be...

Anyway, just a copupl eof thoughts there. A silly as they may be. Either way, I can't wait to see the repaired tank up and running! keep us informed on the repairs.

And from what I've read and saw, he other glass sits on the bottom piece... So you will only have to cut the bottom off and completely remove the rest of the silicon and reinstall the new one... Good luck!

i read on here silicon doesnt stick well to plexi.i bought a piece of glass to silicon over the crack.there is a piece of plexi on the bottom.the crack doenst go accros the whole tank .its 2' long and 6"from the edge of the tank.its in ahalf moon sorta shape from the front to the front.

Ah! I understand. Whaty about if you roughed up one side of the plexi that was to be glued to the glass? With some really rough grit sandpaper. Wouldn't that help with adhesion?

They should make tank glass, the same way that they make Windshields! :)

ive got a new piece of 1/4 to cover the whole crack.called the local glass store they quoted me $996 for a piece of 3/4.not sure how much cheeper 5/8 is but i cant afford a grand for this.not real sure what im gonna do.might have to check to see what i can find on line
