datnoids are rare, even if the people do eat them, you'd never see datnoids in fish markets.

I dont think so i believe they are wild caught from the rivers of Indonesia and Thailand . D.Campbelli (NGT) from New Guinea of course.

they also live in neighboring countries, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, etc. I believe only the true widebars from Thailand are under strtict protections (endangered).

I highly doubt it. The price on widebar tigers are on the rise and getting them are becoming increasingly difficult. If they are farm breeding widebar tigers (which I might not be surprised if they are), then it must be out of season at this time.
