Why in the world would you cook a 1k +++++ fish??
I bet they wont even taste good. Arowanas are bony as hell.
Historically, Datnioides were prized food fish in Thailand that were noted for the quality of their flesh, according to Exotic Tropical Fishes Expanded Edition. Of course many things have changed since that book was written in the late 1970s/early 1980s.

jon , isnt this the fish used to be at my place?

Eric.. Im loving the big guy that i got. Its like an oscar.. it follows me around the tank. A couple of these ,some nice black rays and i think i would be happy camper for a while . Yeah right, who am i fooling. . . :swear:

Jon - I have those Dats at my photo gallery.. i was gonna add them but you beat me to it. Im loving the dats but the meaty arms kinda distracted me. :naughty:

Itchy - true about the dats being din din... But now that dats are really expensive, those river folks would probably rather eat their cats than the datnoids they catch.

Li - cant believe you sold that Dat off. Thats like saying no to Jenna Jameson.

Jack - Whoaaa!!!!!! H.O.T!!! Man... thats fish porn right there if ever there was one.

CJ- The colors would improve once you bring them home. But how light it will get and for how long is another question. Indos tend to have varying colors , more so than widebars ,depending on their mood. One thing i noticed about Indos ( based on personal observation ) is that they tend to lose the bright yellow and get more drab as they hit 8 + inches .

Sure anytime. Dats are great no matter what kind. They are kind of dissapointing in the beggining when theyre small ( they are shy ) but once they get used to the tank and they put on some size they will act like wanna be oscars .
