bought red arowana?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
will be talking with my supplier. he has been very reliable in past. some of his customers are places like sea world and other aquariums but he would admit he does not specialize in this particular breed

its not like the supplier tried selling a silver for red prices. to people that do not know their arows well it could have been a red arow to them. hence the reason why you had to check too.
correct him, tell him that its a slight red tint on a silver arow and he shouldnt label them as red arows in the future. it might be reddish as far as a legal arow goes in the states and maybe the seller had never seen a real red asian but just heard of the red term.

i personally think silver arowanas are BEAUTIFUL!! they are strong and when they move its like liquid metal. i can't get enough of watching them, they are awesome, especially in a group when they are all over 2' long..

and for the OP.. my first silver arowana had dark pink, almost red fins right up to the day she died at 24". some of the pink in her body faded out and got more silvery and shiny, but her dark pink fins stayed with her. probably a good thing i named her Pinky.. lol.

omg just a ugly silver bro they are very cheap and easy to come by ppl here will give them up for free eat too much and is the ugliest by far

silver arowana's, are plentiful and not as sought after as their Asian, black counter parts, but calling it Ugly is baseless and immature.

This is the thing: people these days just want a fish cause it's XXXX, or 'cause it's soo expensive.
Silver arowana's, Asian arowana's are among the highest in regards of Fung Shui; but I'm sure most people could care less.
I'm not sure where you have seen sil aros, but when this specie is well taken care of, it's a wonderful breed to house.

In terms of what we can get legally here in the US, I'll take silvers at the top of the list. Apart from the aggressiveness of the jardini, it has nothing on a silver. They are clunky and inflexible and not nearly as mesmerizing to watch as a silver. The blacks are nearly identical in every way except for the 4x price tag.

I beg to disagree. A young black, or a well matured and healthy black, is prettier than a silver.

Less imposing, less Monster ( only because they are noticeably mellower creatures ) than a silver, but prettier.
