You can try vegetables now.
Start with a zuchinni stabbed with a fork so it sinks. You can choose to cut lengthwise or cut disks. It's all upto your fish if they'll rasp on the skin or not.
 
hmm..hopefully they do then. i'll try get some this afternoon after im done with work.

it feels like it'll be such a great success as well as a money saver if they do accept :P

should i starve them for a little before trying to add the zucchini? im pretty sure theyll be like ZOMG what IS THIS?! when it goes in their tank...
 
No need to starve them. If I recall correctly panaques are on a very low energy diet sothey need to continually rasp away at wood. They should go for the zuchinni by nighttime. Also idk if you wanted to blanch your zuchinni or just throw it in. It's debateable and you can check out a thread on here about feeding plecos in general. It's really good.

still havent had a chance to go get the vegetables yet.
thankfully i catch them eating their cichlid gold pellets...makes the tank so much of a mess though!

and right on, youre located in mililani! always good to see local people on the forums.
