Looks like a convict x mayan x blood parrot. For some reason, that double tail had me hooked. I'll get some photos soon. He/she's about 3" and sort of bloated. Quarantining in a 20 hex with prazi-pro for now. Was priced at about $18.00. Definitely short-body.

No, it's not cut. It's double tail like a betta, not like a goldfish. Pics uploading...

Sorry for the sloppy quality.

This is one turd that might actually polish up.

Looks like it might have red devil, so it might even peel later.

Yes, first double-tail I've ever seen on a cichlid and I've been keeping eight years.

The internet is pretty scarce, too. It's got to be red devil/texas/SB convict or similar. It will probably die as it grows from organ compression anyway. I'm going low-protein with it to prevent blockages.

If it peels, grows larger or gets really pretty I'll post new pics. Please, post your guesses as to what species this might be comprised of!

I'm pumped! I haven't bought a new fish for ages. Really hoping this is a female so I can cross it with my SB convict male. And I used to be such a purist. Ah, poverty and boredom. Ruination is mine.

If this double-tailed gene expresses in the next generation, or after crossing back to offspring, this could mean BANK. I'd want to cross with something pretty, though, not my convict. I might track down a nice SB Texas of opposing gender. Or, dang, I could breed it out to normal body. If the trait can be expressed simply...
