i ran to an old lady selling these two beauties, well not really beauties cuz they are pretty beat up, for $2 only.. it was in a small bucket and these two were the last.. she doesnt want to take it back home so he just sell it to me for $2 or so lol the lady thought it was a fh but i definitely recognised it as a midas.. :)
now i have 8 midas in two separate ponds plus these two guys... im just calming them up in my empty 33g bfore i release them..

You do realize that these are hybrids, yes? Generally speaking, one isn't going to run into little old ladies selling pure midas out of a bucket for $2 a fish, and referring to them as flowerhorn.

They look Ampholophus 100%.

They look like Midas. Escpiecally the big one got a blunted mouth. That one's gotta be a skinny male by that face Im guessing. The other looks like fm with round body Im guessing

LMAO, I could breed hybrid amphs all day long & sell them as pure (whatever) - and many would even look pure. That doesn't make them pure. Does the term "midevil" ring any bells? The old lady was selling them as flowerhorn - you reckon she imported them from Nicaragua?

Use your brains while you are still young enough to enjoy them.

Sent from my SM-G900V using MonsterAquariaNetwork App you seem knowledgeable can you id mY fish RD?

No one can determine the genetics of a fish by simply looking at it. Period, end of story.

So unless you have some kind of provenance that leads back to a collection location in the wild, you should always consider the fish to at least potentially be of mixed genes. That is the responsible thing to do if you are planning on breeding the fish, and distributing their fry. It is for that reason why many serious breeders of cichlids attempt to start their lines with wild stock from a reputable source.

In this case it should be pretty obvious that these fish aren't pure A. citrinellus, but just in case the OP wasn't aware I thought that I would take the time to explain why this is so.

no you should use your brain. or present dna for what you say.

I know and you know it's all assumptions here.
