The alexandri didn't breed, but I hope they would do. Here is another pic of them. I can't recognize any sexual dimophism. They reached 22" now.
The cuvieri was imported at this size last year and he didn't grow in the meanwhile. For me and my tank he is already huge enough, see this tank shot. The dead feeder hast been killed by the wolf.
Awesome fish collection. I am thinking of ordering a couple of Alexandri's from Glaser in Germany. Do you think they would thrive in barebottoms? I aonly have barebottoms. This lack of knowledge is what has kept me from having them up to now...
the alexandri like to dive into the sand, but not any time. Normally they stay on top. I don't think, the Sand is a must The eyes are on top of the fish, they can't see the bottom.
I personally prefer to have Sand in my tank, because the fish look more naturally without reflexion from the glass bottom. And I like to see them diving.
I would recommend to order the alexandri soon. At the moment some specimen are available, but I had to wait a very long time until they were imported again.
