Bowfin breathing hard.

bowfin dont need any air in the water they have they have to go to the top of the tank to breath
u can put a bowfin in a mudpuddle and it would live as long as it can get its head out of the water it will live

Could be parasites. Bowfin are wild caught and IME harbor parasites like flukes and fish lice. Easy to treat with praziquantel.
