Well I have been trying to get rid of my 19" bowfin so i can free up my 125, however I have been unsuccessful. So i was thinking of moving him in with my 19" TSN, 19" FL Gar, and 10" FL gar in my 300. What do you guys think about this combo? A recipe for disaster or will it be a monster community tank? Should i take the risk?

you should be fine with that.

ok Alex, Micheal, Solomon, anyone in our GARmy. what do you guys think? I would love to read your opinions.

Has the bowfin ever had any tankmates? If not, then I would be cautious in trying it. I would be especially worried about that 10" gar. He'd be small enough that I'd think the bowfin might try to (or succeed in) eat him.

I probably wouldn't risk it in a 125 with such a small gar. They can inflict a nasty bite and if your gars like sitting on the bottom it might be a disaster.

I've only kept small bowfin, so I'm not sure. In bigger tanks I've seen it work, but it's definitely a big risk.

He's moving the bowfin from a 125g tank to a 300g tank that has the gar and catfish in it. So that he can empty the 125g tank for other fish.

Could he move the bowfin to the 300 and the small gar to the 125 temporarily?
