Ive slammed so many of these on Oneida lake its insane. Its like that lake is infested w/ em, i catch em more then sunfish haha. It helps im usually using a wire trace and 20lbs test braided line though.. good old hunk of rotting beefheart.. i really want to snag one for my tank someday, bowfins and bichirs w/ dats and pbass sound like a tank for me lol

Anyone ever try keeping em w/ wolf fish?

the fish gallery here in dallas has two 16"-20" i bet they would ship one down to the houston location if you called them bowfin are very cool fish and very aggressive when feeding and towards each other but not other fish I personally enjoy watching them swim and it's the closest we can get to wolfish in texas

I kept a few baby bowfin for a while all was good till they got some size to them and started fighting like crazy. They was not picky when it came to food and would eat anything that hit the water.

I currently keep three bowfin all around 9"-10" they haven't shown any aggression towards anything but feeders. House with MA y different species in a 125 induing large and small Pleco, ebjd and female bgjd, pair or med-small firemouths, angel, even a gourami. Have had no problems whatsoever. They eat everything from pellets to live..

How much were they asking on AB?

While looking for a bullhead on Aquabid, I saw a Bowfin. Has anyone had these before? They look kind of like snakeheads.

you were looking fo bullhead catfish on AB? Black bullhead is all over any small pond in TX right now as I just got so many of them when I go fishing at every small pond around here.
BTW, I think you can catch bull head and bowfin out of lake Houston.

I just went and looked at them sunday, they're very cool fish but too large for my taste. They also had an endli labeled as a del and wanted almost $200...

tempted to get one as tankmate for my Armatus, but with it's teeth and potential aggressiveness, would hate to see it damage my prize possession.
