bowfin or no bowfin?

I hear that there are wild bowfin in a lake near me. is it worth keeping one as a pet? and whats the max size?

They're lurkers, so if you want lots of activity from your fish, pick something else. Also, they get big- 18-24" is typical adult size, but some get considerably larger. So, plan on a several-hundred-gallon tank or pond.

Yeah, they get big. And from what I've heard, they're pretty dirty fish and can be nasty.

I think they're great in an aquarium. I caught a bunch of juvies last year for my marine laboratory. They are pretty active!

they'd be cool to have in an aquarium, you just have to make sure you have a plenty big enough tank (several hundred gallons) cuz they get awful large
