Ironhide, I will gladly take your fish for $50 plus I will pay whatever costs are associated with shipping them to me in Lincoln, NE. I have already contacted F&Wildlife people here and have paperwork for it to be legal/legit to import any bowfins. I need a bowfin for a research project and people I have contacted are having trouble catching some.

Shipping should be realitvely easy and I'm guessing about $50-$60 with packaging etc.

for overnight with 22-23" fish? i think your a tad low. the box would weigh a HUGE amount. the biggest couple of fish i ever had shipped to me succesfully were about the same distance, 11" and the box weighed 60 pounds ($60+). and these were skinny cichlids). The fish + the water weight + packageing supplies, with overnight or even 2 day, would be much much much more than $50.

and FYI, the bigger the fish, the harder to ship and much more likely it will arrive D.O.A, i don't feel safe getting anything shipped to me over 7-10" anymore. I would not be suprised if you fish don't make it. Unless the shipper has many many years of experience shipping fish that large.

best wishes though.

bow fin are air breathers like snake heads i have had them out of water for over 30 mins and put them back with no issues,so shipping them,is the more air/oxygen in the box the better for these fish, not like shipping cichlids at all, only thing to worry about at this time is the temps but other then that 3-5gls water plus alot of air thats all it takesyou would get a kick out of the story when i brought them all home no water all for over an hour,
dog fish? i dont think so never heard of them refered to that

XR

I was saying I will pay all shipping costs (packaging, box, bag buddies (pellets for shipping) etc.). I have received a lungfish that's larger and he arrived just fine.

Ironside I sent you a private message with my E-mail. Did you get that? I am sorry but I am not able to go to Chicago to pick up, but if you can ship that would be great.

You do make a good point with regards to temperature though, but I think they would still be fine....but i'm no prof. when it comes to bowfins.

these guys take very hard hits at each other, anything that will fit in there mouth is lunch, there aggression is very much like a snakehead,i have owned both fish and other then one being imported, they about the same on every level from temperment, appitite, speed, and just being jerks all in the same

jason i got that email, but the pair i will not seperate,i have a 18" male if your interested in him?

Yes, of course I'm interested. Let's figure out costs and shipping if possible. I don't check this thing too frequently so E-mail would be a much better avenue for communication.

Thanks,

Jason
