Bowfin with koi???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well yes. i have a albino channel cat. and i think that sunnys seem like more of a tank fish cuz its too thin to see from the top. idk, if i want a sturgeon. they'd be too dark to see. i know my desires are probably too specific... just wanted to see if there was something else

Bowfin are dark when seen from above, most wild type fish are. Even wild carp are dark, try a few albino channel cats.

you want something that was line bred to be able to be seen which is why wild fish wouldn't be a great idea for a pond.

besides koi and assuming this is temperate waters...i would recommend goldfish(no fancies). they stay smaller and move/look different

albino channel cat (assuming none of your fish fit in its mouth)

rosey red minnows

and thats really it.

there are many other fish you can drop it...but you wont see them well and the bright fish are what stand out.

bowfin will destroy your koi.

it would turn into a koi massacre ....from my experience with amia calva they are just as aggressive as a snakehead and some times more depending on their size

Pumpkinseeds can live with bullheads and a pond with yelow bulheads and Pumkinseeds will not kill your adult Koi. When Pumpkinseeds breed in the spring they colorup and will spawn in the shallows of your pond.

bad mix!!!!!! bowfins are large evil little fish. if you ever tried catching them they will try to bite .you they would rip a koi to pieces

if you wanted some really active native fish get sticklebacks but they are predators and will be cannibalistic if not fed enough
