Wow, looks awesome!

I hate living in an urban area, my backyard is seriously the size of that enclosure..

Thanks. I could never live in an urban area, I'm a country boy. Lucky for me I live at the end of a cul-de-sac with woods behind my property. The pen borders along them and it's a nice quite place to keep my turtles.

Lucky turtles! Love how you keep your animals.

Thanks man. I love keeping things as natural as possible. It makes for some happy pets! :)

Very cool! How long have you had them outdoors?

Depending on which box turtle we're talking about I've had them for 15-23 years outdoors all year long. They are native so they have no problem hibernating through the winter months.

How many turtles total? It's awesome that you can keep them that way. Here our coyotes would finish them off in less than a week.

I have 4, 3 females and a male. We have coyotes, foxes and raccoons here but I've never had any issues from them. Just stray cats that like to drink out of my turtles' water bowl.

They look really good, such nice colours. Happy to see an update on them after the winter cause you have some really nice looking ones.

Thanks davo. It's always a relief to see that all 4 of them made it safely through the winter.

Love your turtles. Told you once and I will tell you again: if you were here with the colors of your sire you could do some very serious cash from the offspring of thouse turts, here they are 100 euro at least a pop;)

Thanks turtle man. :D I've never really considered selling the offspring. I almost always just release them back into the wild.

So cool to see, wish I could do that here, the summers are to harsh I think.

Thanks Jason, I bet you could do something similar with Ornate Box Turtles where you live.

nice!! hmm, interested in giving me one :) lol
jk, i dont have room to raise one inside untill its large enough to hibernate

I WISH more people had setups like this for endangered native species and can help to re-populate wild areas

Yeah these guys really should be kept outdoors all year long once they get over a year old. I keep the hatchlings indoors during their first winter and release them the following spring. Most fatalities happen in the first year and many baby turtles don't make it through their first winter in the wild. Giving them a year head start in captivity helps raise those odds by a lot.

Thanks. And I agree with you. Like I said, I enjoy keeping setups as natural as possible.
