vicious,

Please dont take any wild ones, I dont want to see ya get in trouble. They are protected here now. Which i am so happy about!!!!.

personally i do not see the problem with takeing a wild male if you are breeding them to release them back in to the wild and help build up there population. if your takeing them to make money then that is completely diffrent.

I agree with you. I don't like to take them from the wild either. Some place around where I live they are becoming scarce from development and over collecting. But I am trying to speed up there population as best as I can. I have released over 100 box turtles around where I live and in some nature preserves/game lands. I fatten them up and release them when they are about 2 years old. I like them to have some size on them because lots of little animals would love a baby box turtle snack. I'm deffinently not in it for the money, I've always loved turtles and I want them to be here long after I'm gone.:)

thats great. i wish there was box turtles native to here. one time i did find a eastern box turtle on a freeway overpass and saved him, he didnt eat for a little while, but he did start to eat night crawlers and that was all

Yeah I break for turtles. When I used to work for the Department of Transportaton I drove a bright yellow Chevy S-10 pickup with a light on it. If I found a turtle crossing the road in my daily travels I used to pull over, put on my light and help it across. Remember people that if you do this, take the turtle far off the road in the direction it was going! If not, it might turn around and go back on the road.
