Hey so I think my ball python is going into shed. I fed him last week he didn't poo at all fed him again this morning at the same time. I came home from work his eyes are a different color and is really faded like dusty looking. Is that for sure shed or could it be something else.

sounds like shed, when they go to shed, the eyes will darken to a milky shade, the snake itself should fade as the dead skin starts to get ready to come off. Most of the time, my snakes do this for a few days, then they clear up and look more normal for a day or so. Then they fade quickly and shed a day or two later. Give em a bath of warm water to help moisten the skin, itll help them get a complete and healthy shed.

Once he does shed, make sure he sheds both of his eye-caps. It really sucks when they dont get them off, its like a person not taking out their contacts lens. they usually get them off but some snakes have shed problems

So what I have been doing Is filling up cups of luke warm water and pouring it in his tank a little by little keeeping humidity up and wetting his hide. He hasn't come out his hide il give him a nice warm bath today. When I got him he had a eye cap on that I soaked him and he lost it. I don't know when his last shed was before this and I don't know the care he has had before. So since I noticed his eyes on Friday when should he be due to shed

it depends on the snake. i would wait till he colors up again (less dull) then wait about a day

Came home from work yesterday and he was all shed he didn't do it in one whole piece. He did manage to get all his skin off except a small bit on his tail that came off after I bathed him

perfect, sounds like all went well. Its not uncommon for them to do it in multiple pieces. And great, if they dont do it a bath should do the trick. The eye caps are the biggest concern. I left my snakes in the care of someone else for a couple of months once. Didnt know what they were doing and the eyecaps stayed on for the entire time. snake refused food for months and dropped alot of weight. It required medicated eye drops to finally get it off.

And before anyone else says it, I tried every trick in the book to get them off. they are usually easy, but if they get neglected and left on for a few months...its not quite as easy

I was really surprised his eye caps came off because like I said he had one on before and she said he always had problems with them. But she didn't take care of him too much he had no heat pad and only a 50watt day glow bulb on him. They probably didn't do anything with the humidity while he was shedding
