It's a moody fish. Kinda like irwini. The more it is stressed, the less it eats. I realize this is true for any fish, but for this fish it appears much more manifested, IME anyway.
With smaller fish like Herman's and mine, it appears to get 1"-3" a month.
Starting with larger fish like Vincent's and mine at 18"-20", it is 1"-2" a month.
I think in the right conditions, perfect for this fish, 3" a month is easy to begin with. Not that you'd like this answer but neither would you intentionally stress a fish, I don't think, or underfeed badly...

I had a feeling that they'd have a pretty stout growth rate. That's why I haven't bought one lol
I'm in the process of getting a new house right now, and I want to get one of those glasscages 11' 750s for it eventually. With that kind of growth, even that big tank would be too small entirely too quickly I think.

Line up a rehoming path (shouldn't be a problem) and grow one out. No?

How is your health?
I've got five acres up on the state line north of Jacksonville. I wish I could have found land just over the line for the sake of ATF, but the Charlton county, GA taxes were nuts.
The health is better! As of Wednesday I am officially 90 days cancer free! That means I'm over the hump and it's not likely to pop back up. I'm also getting over the radiation sickness and I almost feel alive again
