went out today looking for more of the unusual dollar sp I picked up a few months back.

Ended up spotting this guy listed as a capa for £195.00, don’t mind if I do.

What a steal.

I’ve settled him in and left him in with the roussixii in the grow out tank.

Obviously now, I’ll have to rethink some of my smaller fish for when these go into then larger tank. But I’ve always said if I could find one at a decent price, I’d have one.
Currently around 4”. Was the broadest and chunkiest of the 4 others that came in.

Spots are big like capa to my eye
Intreasting. I’ve owned capa before. And seen small piriba before. I’m pretty certain this would be a piriba. By all means. I could be wrong and very disappointed then lol.

Maybe a quick I’d. I’m thinking filamentosum personally.

Indeed a fila. Capa usually lighter even in a dark tank, bigger spots than this & have broader snout. By the look of it, probably from Peru.

Well spotted. Came in on Brazil shipment, if they do appear in the uk they usually are from Suriname orders. This is a first I think.

Agree with the true piraiba ID. Wes fugupuff fugupuff was the first to show us the photos of some baby filas looking exactly like Rpul's fish back in that Tyjo's capa/fila thread.

Yes, the spots are a bit larger than on other filas but not as big as on capa, plus capa's spotting is not confined to the middle and back but is all over. And yes, the snout also points to the true piraiba.

Growth is phenomenal. It’s matching a Redtails. Very exciting.

Just upgraded the filtration on the big pond, reducing half the smaller stock in there. A lot of the l-numbers will be going. Hopfully this guy can join in when he hits around 10”. I some how feel it won’t be long till he’s in.
