Cool. What I saw was listed as in the bagrius family with a common name like zagara, or something like that. Must not be the same because yours looks nice and the other was kinda ugly.

I always understood this was the same fish as what you were looking at(huge 6ft monster). Maybe someone else has more info.

Correction, I think I was wrong. Flavascens seem to be different filimentsum(piraiba)

This cat might and probably does stay smaller. Sorry. Someone before was selling these cats saying they got huge.

Flavascens WILL GET LARGE...LOOK THEM UP IN PLANETCATFISH.COM...ONE OG THE LARGER SHOVELNOSE...GOOD LOOKING FISH....

HOW BIG ARE THEY NOW RKC?

A rare Amazonian fish closely related to the Tiger Shovelnose Catfish, this species gets extremely large, as adults in their natural habitat may weigh up to 100 pounds or more. The body is shaped closely to that of the Redtailed Catfish, is gray in color, and with fins of red. This is a popular food fish in its native area. Obviously one must have a huge tank if this fish is to grow up to be a healthy adult in the home aquarium.
