some where over the rainbow
just got into brackish water fish, got a small archer and small red scat in a 10 gal tank, wanted to dress it up a little, are there any plants (fake) that i can get or are there no plants in brackish watter and just rocks and sand? or should i go with saltwater decorations? open to any idears

Which SG? I have live plants in water with SG 1.006, but that's mostly because those fish need plants to hide in. Those plants do not grow very well.
Of course you can use fake plants, but I would have choosen something more natural like driftwood and leaves.
Some people also decorate with algae when high salinity: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v503/Golem/bracktank.jpg

Anubias
Javamoss
Javafern
Vallisneria
Rizophora mangle
will thrive in slight brackish.

lol, i'm like in the exact same situation, cyber high-5!! im just using silk plants just now, as i was about to post on here to, about what plants can live in brackish... thanks for doing it for me, lol. am eager to see any responces to.

In my 90 gal Brackish, I have some Drift wood, and a carved rainbow rosk, alon with some plastic plants.....My fish would shred any live plants....I have 2 Silver, 2 Green, and a Red Scat, I also have 2 Argentinus Monos and 2 Orange Chromides, and 2 Knight Gobies. They are all still just little guys, pushing the 3" mark....

Jen ;)

what about substraight? sand, dirt, pebbels? want it to look natural... i thought that the brackish water was like a no-mans land, only thing that lived there where fish (of corse i just jumped into it... no research or anything)

Hakon wants to know what salt level you have in your tank. Is it low end (barely reads on hydrometer, like 1.002) or high end (almost marine, like 1.018)

I have Java fern, Java moss, Cryptocoryne ciliata, a banana plant and an apongeton crispus in a SG of 1.004. They do really well for me. I use sand and rocks for hard decor. I had driftwood but it really starts to stink in brackish (like rotton eggs!) SG means Specific Gravity.

ahh ok... like i said i jumped into brackish (belly floped acualy) i added 1 cup of sea salt for 10 gallons... dont have a hydro....thingy

ok then, i think u may have to change that... i though i could just use, 5 tbls of salt per 5 gallss or som, ething like that, mabye 2??? anyway... i realized what about water changes.... aHHHHHHHHHHH.... get a saltinity metre, you can get a chaep plastic one that sticks on the inside of your tank like a thermometre (very handy) or if you want to splash out, or in my case havn't heard of what i just said, go with one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....PageName=MERC_VIC_ReBay_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT
Hope this helps.... :D
