I wouldn't make the sandbed deeper than 1" or you're going to have to stir it every week, to prevent anerobic air pockets from forming.

Oooh good to know. I don't think it'll be more than an inch deep once it's all spread out evenly. I used just over an pound per gallon so hopefully it works out ok. If not I'll just take some out

Add filter floss to that HOB & keep changing it out when it gets clogged.

It took about a week of 50-95% water changes every day and unclogging sponges twice a day, but the tank is clear now and my SG is hanging out around 1.009 :D

I purchased a couple rocks from my LFS that they had in their brackish tank that has the same SG as my my tank and stuck those in to help cycle. Hopefully going to get more rocks and a few plants today then add either a couple bumble bee gobies or some mollies to continue the cycling process.

That rock might have been enough to instant cycle the tank & add a few gobies. Unless you are feeding that tank ammonia, the bacteria on those rocks will quickly perish.

If you are still looking to add a few fish (be careful to not overstock) why not try a few sailfin mollies? They do excellent in brackish water and as a bonus would provide an occasional live food treat for the puffers. I keep my mollies in brackish (raise them as feeders) and they never get the diseases you see on mollies kept in freshwater. I have only sailfins, lyre-tailed, and Dalmatian mollies in brackish but some other may be tolerant to brackish. Just remember to drip acclimate when putting them into brackish.

My F8 puffers were terrorized by sailfins.

Thanks for the suggestion, but everything I've heard says that F8's and Sailfins don't get along too well and I'm definitely going to be stocking F8's :)
