Brackish pleco or algea eater?

You could use a 1 or 2-liter bottle. Drill small holes around the top half for water circulation. Don't drill holes in the bottom half, since you want some water to stay in the bottle when you pull him out. Then you can cut the top half off for access to him.

Put in a piece of food you know he likes a lot, and check it frequently.

ok might try, from what i can gather chinese algae eaters are salt tolerant and it seems to be fine so not that fussed if he stays or goes or am i missing something??
 
i have olive nerites in my 10g brackish, and aside from all the algae, i've been leaving in a leaf of romaine lettuce, and they devour it, so i wouldn't worry about them starving. when they get bigger, i'm hoping to put them in my 75g.
