Brackish tank questions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thanks for the help and ideas. Im going to get a few more scats and mabey another shark cat.
thanks again

I have a few target fish in my 110 brackish set up. Super fast, eating flakes, frozen blood worms, much more active then Datnoid.

You will not find a true Bullrout, Very hard to find. There cousin is readily available, vespicular depressifrons, they stay under 4"

If I had a bamboo shark it would go in a much bigger tank. The 55 gal. would be a starter tank with the target fish.

55 is way to small for a shark if that helps you make up your mind.
Well to start with if your tank is 55 gallons get some interesting fishes like Monodactylus kottelati, its a beautiful fish with a liquid silver body not unlike Monodactylus argentinus but unlike argentinus it doesnot lose colour after its fully matured and maxs out at 8 cms!!Also you could go for zebra blennys, and if possible Neovespicula depressiformes, the Indian Goblin fish. All of these are beautiful and unique as compared to other run of the mill brackish fishes.I would also suggest Canthigaster compressa. Its one of the more peaceful of the toby puffers and does real well in a brackish tank.Good luck
Namor-prince of seas.

who said it was a 55? it's a 125. could get a couple of celebese rainbowfish. they're cool looking but you can't get many of them as they fight amonst themselves.

I'd say keep it simple and get a couple more scats, maybe a differenty variety than you have already and a couple more catsharks. They are a centerpiece in themselves.I have 9 of them ranging from 4.5" t0 12" and people are all about them when they come over.Keep around some cool food for when people come over like earthworms, frozen raw shrimp and scollops, and some frozen shiners that you can cut up.Also people who don't have a clue think "brackish" is so exotic anyway that anything you have in there gets the oooh's and aaah's anyway.

I have quite an assortment in my brackish tank.
I've got scats, silver, green, and red
monos, sebae and argentus
archer fish
and some target fish.

The target fish are very active and schooling. They're quite entertaining to watch, and will eat anything!
