Brackish

most likely... but get some mono sebaes for the tank to. they are cool fish for brackish tanks :D

You would add marine salt, not aquarium salt.

If you are going to try to convert an existing FW tank to brackish you need to do this slowly over the course of a couple of weeks. If you do it to suddenly the change in salinity will kill off all of your beneficial bacteria and you will basically be starting your cycle all over again.

well i have only had the tank set up for a week, and there is no fish in the tank at the moment.

In that case, just add the salt now and then start your cycle. You could also use something like Bio-Spira (Dr. Tim's one and only or the Tetra/IO brands) to put your fish in right away after you mix the salt.

I wound up mixing the FW and SW versions at a ratio of 2:3 (fw:sw) and I put my fish right in and have no problems since then.
