Ok I think I want to start a brackish tank. I have been looking at dragon gobies and I know they do best in brackish water. So my question is what all do I need to do to my freshwater tank to ready it for him? Just add aquarium salt?

If you are going to try to convert an existing FW tank to brackish you need to do this slowly over the course of a couple of weeks. If you do it to suddenly the change in salinity will kill off all of your beneficial bacteria and you will basically be starting your cycle all over again.
If you go to the Brackish section of this site you should be able to find more information on this as well.
In that case, just add the salt now and then start your cycle. You could also use something like Bio-Spira (Dr. Tim's one and only or the Tetra/IO brands) to put your fish in right away after you mix the salt.WMDunkin;2647824;2647824 said:well i have only had the tank set up for a week, and there is no fish in the tank at the moment.
