denver,co
as you may or may not know , i had 2 rays shipped to me overnight that was delayed for a day 2 weeks ago.
1 came in weak but ok
1 was on his back, not breathing, dunno how long he was like that for
i managed to revive him with constant water flow through his gills.

he wasn't eating first few days, then develop pointy pelvis bones(getting thin from starving i guess), then developed cloudy eyes on both eyes during the first week.

currently he's starting to eat again, although not as eagerly or as much as the healthy one. he would eat some when i first drop in the food and then just lay there most of the time if he's not eating. he would move away sometimes but only because of the other rays was bothhering him. the cloudy eyes are clearing up but he's still not moving around like the healthy rays and it's been 2 weeks. the other rays are constantly moving around the tank , finding food and hide in the sand. This sick ray never hid in the sand, he would just lay there and breath. i've seen him move from 1 side of the tank to the other but like i said it's more because he was bugged by the other rays.
anyone with experiience can tell me if he has a chance to recover fully?

thanks

can you move this ray to another tank??? i would addd salt up the temp and kill all lights..

yeah, i'm working on getting a small tank so i can keep him by himself and just have him in complete darkness!!
Nick I know you have alot of experience with rays, have you seen this before?

what size small are you thinking??? what are they in now???

3 rays (4-7 inches) in a 180 gallon. the sick one is the only male
i'm thiking of maybe just go out and buy a 10 or 20 gallon i alreayd have some ac110 laying around that i can use. i'll borrow some filter material from the current filter so there will be some bacteria already established

I would try and get a 40 in anything smaller your water will probabley go bad in about half a day

go to walmart etc... and get a rubber made container.... perfect ray hospital tank... id say a 65 gallon would work...

As a side note, Black Font does not show up very well on MFK dark. Just as white font does not show well on MFK light.:)
