Do you need to vacuum the bottom of the tank once in a while to keep the bottom clean ?

The gravel is a very fine layer so not that often at all.
The fish are in and playing nicely.
They may not all be big yet but they will be.

Ok a bit of an update.
I have been busy with other projects and fish lately.
All fish are loving the swimming space.

The tank looks amazing, great build. I do agree with the others that I'd do mechanical filtration before biological cuz I wouldn't want large particles clogging the pores on the bio, but then again maybe for K1 that isn't a problem.
I'm just wondering how thick is the glass on the tank, I double checked and didn't find info on it.

Thanks mate.
Glass is 12 mm thick with a thicker base and rail around where the sides meet the base.
I ran my filtration on my old system like this and had no dramas at all.
This sump is doing a great job.
The k1 doesn't clog it more mashes the solids up if anything.
