I recently did a plant order and did not intend on buying any fish, but I could not help myself and decided to buy a pinktail chalceus!

good luck! They are cool fish, I've had a couple over the years but I lost my last one a few months back. It had gotten to about 8" and thick but jumped out of the tank when I didn't set the lid on properly.

That looks like a red tail barracuda. Just a heads up they can be pretty jumpy so make sure you have a tight lid on that tank. Nice find.

You mentioned a plant orders, are you keeping the chalceus in a planted tank? Just curious what your experience is, my yellow fin chalceus ate plants.

Thanks! I would not necessarily call it a planted tank but I have some large vallisneria and the pinktail Chalceus leaves the vallisneria alone. All the other plants I purchased went into other tanks.

I know! I like to consider the pinktail chalceus a poor man's baracuda.

I have one in a tank with a couple plants but havent seen any signs of it eating them yet
