Good luck with trying to get it to look like that, it will probably never happen.

it all depends what types of plants you wanna do. that will dictate your lighting/co2 needs. if you want easy to grow, non-demanding plants, then you dont need much other than a basic aquarium light!

welcome to the "dark" side lol

i see this stuff all the time in my LFS's, that picture^, is it possible to buy some and put it in the tank. i really like the look of it. also could someone explain the whole Co2 situation? from how it works to what plants need it.

im not sure what that is in the pic, looks good though! have you checked out the stickies? take a look at those and let us know if you have specific questions.

also, check out www.plantedtank.net - its a great forum.

and finally, this site is a MUST. great no-nonsense information: www.rexgrigg.com read all the articles to the right

If you want to grow most plants then lighting, substrate and nutrients are what you need in various ways, depending on the plant.

I only have simple low level care plants. Some Sword plants, Anacharis etc, are pretty simple.

I have these 2 plants in my tank (Same Type), and have no idea what they are, but I like them the most. I got just the bulbs and planted them, and they srpouted and they grow big and awesome. And I dont do anything special for them.

well the only problem is most algeas like the some conditions so if you try and grow that one type of algea you are also going to get all other types of algea.
